Energy Centres Connected to Reiki
Not only does Reiki energy work harmoniously with our own energy but it also works with our internal energy centres more commonly known as Chakras.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. There are seven chakra centres within our own bodies. Each one represents a different energy channel. They are as follows:-
Sahasrara - the crown chakra
Ajna - the Third Eye chakra (represented at the forehead)
Vishuddha - the throat chakra
Anahata - the heart chakra
Manipura - the solar plexus chakra
Svadhisthana - the sacral chakra
Muladhara - the root chakra
They are situated in alignment from the base of your spine to the top of your head and described both in energy format and colour. The colours are the seven colours of the rainbow and start with red at the base, then orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet or white.
Each chakra represents a different emotion and links to a specific problem area and various glands. They can become blocked through stress, anxiety, anger, frustration, inability to deal with confrontation and even trauma. Reiki works in conjunction with these energy wheels/centres to clear the blockages.
In meditation they can be mentally envisaged as different coloured wheels, or candles of coloured light and worked with personally to help solve problems.
Not only Reiki practitioners work with chakras but many other types of healers also because the state of chakras has a direct influence over the state of the associated organs and endocrine glands. This can manifest physical symptoms and imbalance within the body. The list below informs you of the colours and reason for any blockages:-
The root (red) - indicates a lack of security or fear.
The spleen (orange) - is associated with the parts of the consciousness concerned with emotional connection between both food and sex.
The solar plexus (yellow) - associated power, control, freedom the solar plexus chakra is also associated with the level of being us call the personality, or ego.
The heart (green) - associated with love, giving and receiving. Relationships.
The throat (blue) - associated with fear of speaking out. Problems with communication.
The brow - Third Eye (Indigo) - associated with our Spirit and spirituality. Inner vision.
The crown (violet or white) - associated with intuition, wisdom. Channels life energy into the other chakras.
Whilst Reiki is very effective at opening and unblocking these energy centres so that they work effectively please note that they are also the keys to understanding any underlying problems such as those above.
Maintaining a balance will assist enormously in keeping your mind, body and soul working harmoniously. Acquaint yourself with these centres and ask yourself whether you are experiencing any anxieties or difficulties in these areas.
Do you suffer frequently with throat problems? If the answer is yes, then ask yourself whether you have had difficulties expressing your feelings to someone? Are you afraid to speak out?
Let your Reiki practitioner know beforehand of the location of problematic areas in your body and they will work towards re-balancing the appropriate energy centre.
There are several websites and books available to explain in further detail about Chakras and their operation within the human body.

A Reiki Treatment
A Reiki treatment is one of the most pleasurable experiences one can have. It's non-invasive, not uncomfortable, you don't have to undress for it, you can lay down, or you can sit up. It's preferable to lay down to get the most out of it as you can totally relax, but if you are unable to, for whatever reasons, then sitting is fine too.
Absent healing and Reiki
When a practitioner has undergone their Second Degree course of Reiki, they will have been attuned with the 'distant' symbol which will enable them to carry out healing over a distance. This means that they don't have to be in the same room, same town or even same country in order to heal them! it can be literally done long distance because it is only in the physical world that time and distance matter. When healing over a distance, it is the same as if the practitioner is in the same room as the person they are healing.
