Whole Body Reiki
Reiki is a healing art that originated in Japan in the early 1900's. It is a healing treatment that is passed down from Master to student - and it is said that the student
receives "attunement" from the Reiki Master.
Reiki itself can be thought of as a non-physical, non-invasive healing treatment that consists of a "life force energy" that is said to be guided by the
Higher Intelligence. That said, it is important to bear in mind that Reiki is not a religion or way of life, and it has no dogma attached to it.
It doesn't require that you have any particular beliefs in order to receive the healing treatment either.
Generally, Reiki healing is given by a qualified Reiki practitioner who uses his/her hands to channel energy to the person in need of the treatment. Usually
only the affected part is treated. There is another type of Reiki treatment, known as "whole body Reiki" and this is used to treat the entire body as a whole.
More specifically, it helps the body to achieve a state of relaxation by eliminating blockages in the system which would disrupt the flow of energy throughout.
If whole body Reiki is administered over a long period of time, the end result is a marked improvement in the overall condition and health of the body.
A lot of this is due to the energy channels being opened up sufficiently, without any blockages or obstacles hindering the energy flow, and so the body is
much better equipped to deal with toxic build up and stress.
This has a further beneficial effect in that body processes such as the immune system are further strengthened and improved to deal with toxins more effectively
and efficiently.
Sometimes, a patient may be receiving the usual conventional medical treatment for an ailment and in cases like these, Reiki can also be used effectively to help
the recovery process. It does this by recharging the body with additional energy so that the body is better able to recover from illness.
Reiki has been known to provide beneficial results in relieving side effects which may arise as the result of some medical treatments, particularly in cases
of surgery and chemotherapy treatments. Once again, Reiki provides extra life energy which is just what the body needs, especially after such draining and demanding
treatments such as chemotherapy sessions. A good analogy of what Reiki does for the body is that it is almost like charging one's personal battery!
If Reiki healing can be given on a regular basis, this will further enhance and promote a person's natural healing process such that they are restored to good
health a lot sooner. A regular course of Reiki will increase the body's natural built-in defenses, promoting a more positive outlook on life and providing a greater
ability to handle stressful situations and challenges.

A Reiki Treatment
A Reiki treatment is one of the most pleasurable experiences one can have. It's non-invasive, not uncomfortable, you don't have to undress for it, you can lay down, or you can sit up. It's preferable to lay down to get the most out of it as you can totally relax, but if you are unable to, for whatever reasons, then sitting is fine too.
Absent healing and Reiki
When a practitioner has undergone their Second Degree course of Reiki, they will have been attuned with the 'distant' symbol which will enable them to carry out healing over a distance. This means that they don't have to be in the same room, same town or even same country in order to heal them! it can be literally done long distance because it is only in the physical world that time and distance matter. When healing over a distance, it is the same as if the practitioner is in the same room as the person they are healing.
